ARCADIA Investment Group und Goldbeck Nordost GmbH celebrate the laying of the foundation stone for multi-storey car park “Northgate” at the future BER airport

On 7 August 2019, the Leipzig ARCADIA Investment Group, owner of the “Northgate” multi-storey car park, and the general contractor Goldbeck Nordost GmbH Berlin-Brandenburg celebrated the official laying of the foundation stone for the “Northgate” multi-storey car park at BER Airport in Berlin. This marks an important milestone on the way to the structural completion of the multi-storey car park in the “gatelands” business park at the future Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport.

The celebration took place on the approximately 10,000 m² large building area in front of about 80 invited guests, among them the mayor of the municipality Schönefeld, representatives of the property seller OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, Kolb + Partner Immobilienkompetenz, IBK Projekt GmbH as well as the team of the Goldbeck Nordost GmbH, employees of the administrative district Dahme-Spreewald and further companies involved in the project. The laying of the foundation stone included speeches by Alexander Folz – managing director of the project company, Bernd Haase – branch manager of Goldbeck Nordost GmbH Berlin-Brandenburg and archaeologist Gregor Döhner of archaeofakt DÖHNER + USCHMANN + PARTNER GbR, the archaeological company responsible for the surface excavations, as well as the concreting of the time capsule. The time capsule was embedded in the foundation stone with the daily newspaper of Berlin and Leipzig, various coins, the planning documents of the car park other company-related items.

This is a special day for the ARCADIA Investment Group: “For us as a medium-sized property developer, ‘Northgate’ is the largest new car park construction project in the company’s history”, explained Alexander Folz, managing director of ARCADIA. The future multi-storey car park of the business park “gatelands” will have around 1,500 parking spaces on twelve half-levels. “The project makes us proud. We are particularly pleased to be working together with such a renowned general contractor as Goldbeck.”

Businesspark „gatelands“

The new “gatelands” business park is being built on an area of around 100,000 m² in close vicinity to the capital’s new airport. The business park area offers space for hotels, offices, service and retail space and is going to have a total floor area of approx. 250,000 m². Due to the prime location, the short distances to the city centre of Berlin, the connection to the motorways A 113 (Berlin City) and A 10 (motorway ring) and the already ensured building laws, the area will be one of the most attractive development sites on the outskirts of Berlin. Particularly, because of the high demand on the Berlin office market.

Besides various office buildings, several hotels will be built, of which the B&B Hotel Berlin-Airport has already been opened. The building permit for a hotel of the Moxy brand has already been granted. In addition, a building application has been filed for an office development with approx. 15,000 m². The business park “gatelands” includes approx. 20,000 m² of forest with ponds and grassy areas.
