Shell construction work on the “Otto Dix Passage” in Gera completed – conversion on schedule

The conversion of the former “Elsterforum” at Museumsplatz 2 in Gera is in full progress. Since the beginning of September 2020, the Leipzig-based ARCADIA Investment Group has been revitalising the old shopping centre. After reopening, the newly designed shopping arcade will be called “Otto Dix Passage” and will comply with modern building standards designed for sustainability. In addition, it will have an attractive tenant mix to do once again full justice to its prime location between the market, Sorge and the “Geras Neue Mitte” urban development project.

The new anchor tenant will be Gera-based Daten Management Service GmbH, which will rent the first floor and parts of the second floor, including a roof terrace. The future offices are spread over a total rental area of 8,275 square metres and are to be occupied by the 380 employees in stages as early as spring and summer 2021. Despite the Corona pandemic the conversion is on schedule.

The general contractor for the conversion of the shopping arcade is Prehn Bauprojektmanagement GmbH from Lubmin. After the “Otto Dix Passage” was completely gutted a year ago and the escalators were dismantled in August 2020, the dismantling of the supply technology and the green roof was completed at the beginning of this year. Parallel to this, the new ceiling areas were concreted in November and December last year and the former rotundas were closed. The dry construction work for the first construction phase has been in full progress since January and is expected to be completed by the end of February.
